e- Governance Seminar

The Department of Sc. & Technology, the Nodal Department of Information Technology under the Government of Manipur and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE ), a leading professional society established in 1953, focus on promoting the science and technology of electronics, telecommunications, computers and information technology by conducting and sponsoring technical meeting, conferences, symposia, exhibitions and related activities. DST, Government of Manipur and IETE, Imphal Sub-Centre are jointly organizing a “National Level Seminar on e-Governance” during 8-10 March, 2003 at Imphal.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To create awareness in Harnessing advances in IT and the opportunities so presented to restructure Government, Citizen and Business interface with the objective of better governance.
  2. To facilitate initiatives towards synergic utilisation of IT as an enabling tool for efficiency and effectiveness in public administration.
  3. To enable quick initiation and transfer of suitable technologies and packages enabling Electronic Governance (EG).
  4. To enable adoption & adoption of objectives of electronic delivery of services.
  5. To encourage various constitution bodies to adopt EG as a tool for more effective delivery of services and administration.
  6. To address privacy concerns through a clear statement of continuing commitment to the data protection and Internet Security Methods both in the Public and Private domain.
  7. To identify various issues and directions in implementing EG.

The topics to be discussed in the seminar are :

  1. Introduction to e-Governance.
  2. e-Governance Strategy.
  3. Experiences and Case Studies of e-Governance Models in India
  4. Citizen Government Interface and e-Service Delivery.
  5. e-Governance Technology Solutions.
  6. e-Governance, vis-ŕ-vis Cyber Laws, Govt. Policies, Security and Privacy Issues.
  7. e-Governance Infrastructure Development.
  8. e-Governance Funding - An approach.
  9. Guidelines for Government Portal Development.

PAPERS

Papers are invited on various topics given above which will be published in the Proceedings of the Seminar and Web hosted. Papers should reach the Chairman, IETE Sub-Centre, Imphal latest by 27th February, 2003 on a floppy in MS Word or preferably by e-mail.

Abstracts of papers of length not more than 300 words should accompany the papers for publication on the Web

Souvenir

It is proposed to bring out a Souvenir containing the papers to be presented, messages and publicity material. Vendors may release advertisements on the form attached to this Brochure latest by 27th February 2003. Hardware/Software vendors are invited to use this opportunity to arrange demonstration of their products & services available with a view to create product awareness.
