The Manipur IT EXPO (MITEX) is organized every year since 2001 by IETE Sub Centre, Imphal as sponsored by Science and Technology Department, Government of Manipur. The primary aim of MITEX is to assess the latest development in the field of Information Technology, to promote IT Industry and to popularize IT in the Region. The last event was held during 10-13th March, 2002 at the Auditorium & Conference Hall of RD Wing, Medical Department, Lamphel. Besides the exhibition on IT in Manipur, a Regional Level Seminar on "Development of Information Technology in the North East" was also organised.

This year MITEX 2003 is being organized in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Institution of the Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers from 8-10th March, 2003. The IETE Sub-Centre, Imphal and Department of Science & Technology, Manipur are jointly organising  the MITEX-2003 and the National Seminar on e-Governance simultaneously.

His Excellency, Shri Ved  Marwah, the Governor of Manipur and  Dr. M Nara Singh, Hon’ble  Minister (Arts & Culture) of Manipur have consented to inaugurate the Seminar as the Chief Guest and the President respectively on 8.3.2003 at 1030 hrs at the RD Wing Hall, Medical Department., Lamphel, Imphal.
